A series of digitally scanned bodies slowly rotate in virtual space while hashtags and descriptors emerge around them like fragments of an invisible profile.
Based on three self-disclosed categories- gender, sexuality, profession and a brief description of each participant, an AI system generates associations derived from the most common connections circulating within online platforms. These descriptors reveal the ways bodies are read and interpreted through the logics of social media. Rendered Identities examines how normative ideas of gender, sexuality, and idealized body images become embedded within digital systems and continuously reinforced through processes of categorization and visibility.
The work reveals how social values, stereotypes, and collective imaginaries are translated into seemingly neutral labels, exposing the mechanisms through which digital cultures shape and intensify contemporary ideals and expectations.
